Innovations in Construction Arbitrations

The Society of Construction Law Australia, Lighthouse Club Sydney, ACICA and Chartered Institute of Arbitrations are honoured to announce that Professor Doug Jones AO of Sydney Arbitration Chambers and Nastasja Suhadolnik of Corrs Chambers Westgarth will be presenting in person to us in Sydney on the very important topic of ‘Innovations in Construction Arbitrations’. The event will be held on Thursday 14 November 2024 at 6:00 pm AEDT and will also be livestreamed.

Our Speakers

Professor Doug Jones AO is a leading international commercial and investor-state arbitrator with experience in both ad hoc and institutional commercial and Investor / State arbitrations. He sits regularly in many jurisdictions across the world, with arbitrations spanning various subject-matter, from infrastructure and energy to intellectual property and joint ventures. In 2019, he was also appointed as an International Judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court.

Nastasja Suhadolnik is the Head of Arbitration at Corrs Chambers Westgarth specialising in commercial arbitration, investor-state dispute settlement and public international law. Admitted to practise in New York and Australia, Nastasja has experience advising and representing private and sovereign entities in dispute resolution proceedings conducted under various arbitration rules and across a variety of sectors. Having previously practised at the United Nations, she also regularly advises on matters of international law. 

Details of Event

The formal presentation will commence promptly at 6.00pm AEDT in Sydney (registration from 5:30 pm) on Thursday 14 November 2024 and there will be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions at the end of the event.  The event will also be followed by drinks and light snacks and will provide attendees with an opportunity to network with others who have an interest in the construction industry and arbitration / construction law. 

The event will be simulcast / livestreamed for others wishing to view the event from elsewhere in Australia.  Please note any time difference for other locations.

Michael Earwaker practices in resolving complex technical disputes.  He brings a specialised blend of legal and engineering skills. Michael has experience in both the public and private sector acting for contractors, arrangers and owners in addition to having particular expertise in PPP projects.
 

Cost of Event

This in person event is free of charge for SoCLA members (you must be logged in on our website www.scl.org.au to register).  

Members of the Lighthouse Club, ACICA and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators will be provided with a code to allow free registration.

Non-members in person attendance - $49.50.

Online registration is free for both members and non-members.
