SoCLA and Norton Rose Fulbright invite you to attend this exciting presentation by Glen Billington, Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer at 19th Chief Engineer Works with the Australian Army.
This presentation will paint a brief history of the use of contractors to support military construction and highlight the construction and legal challenges in managing construction works in the Australian Army.
Throughout history, civilian construction contractors have played an important role in military construction efforts and continue to do so to this day. The modern use of construction contractors by the Australian Defence Force is integral to Australian military operations and supporting broader Government policy objectives.
This presentation will highlight contemporary case studies to provide an insight into the construction and legal challenges associated with such projects and will highlight the contract drafting and project management skills required to deal with issues rarely addressed in the Australian domestic construction context.
