Elisha Goosem is a Special Counsel in Carter Newell’s Construction and Engineering team and provides specialist advice to insurers with respect to professional indemnity claims, contract works claims and plant and equipment claims across the various professionals within the construction and engineering industry. These advices focus on issues such as policy interpretation and indemnity, liability and quantum and subrogated recovery actions. She also advises corporate clients in the construction and engineering industry such as principals and contractors with respect to disputes and insurance claims.
Additionally, Elisha has acted in the defence of professional indemnity claims for professionals in the accounting and health care industries advising on liability, quantum and indemnity for claims made under directors' and officers', councillors and officers and employment practices liability insurance policies.
Laura Horvat is a Special Counsel in Carter Newell’s Construction and Engineering team and specialises in back end construction matters and her experience includes advising clients with respect to construction industry related insurance claims, acting for insurers in relation to subrogated actions for recovery and conducting litigation in various state jurisdictions in the Supreme and District Courts.
Specialising in legal issues affecting the construction industry, Laura has acted in many litigious matters in the District and Supreme Courts throughout Australia. She has also attended to various matters heard at the Commercial and Consumer Tribunal and has acted for clients in international disputes involving the ICC International Court of Arbitration.
Laura's experience includes providing advice with respect to property damage, breach of contract, Australian Consumer Law (Cth) disputes and defective workmanship and design. She is regularly involved in projects which include acting for principal contractors, subcontractors, independent contractors, architects and engineers.
