ACICA Melbourne Arbitration Symposium

SoCLA is proud to be a supporting organisation for the ACICA Melbourne Arbitration Symposium

The Melbourne Arbitration Symposium is a half-day event to come together as a community of practitioners to discuss key considerations in drafting contracts and the disputes that arise out of them.

Arbitration may be the most appropriate dispute resolution mechanism in many circumstances. This event is designed to respond to some of the most common issues that arise in practice in Victoria, where arbitration is used and in circumstances where it is not.

After an introduction of ACICA and Arbitration Victoria, there will be  two panels:

  • The Psychology of Decision-Making
  • Complex Projects, Complex Disputes: Why Arbitration is Critical to Australia’s Key Industries

CONFIRMED SPEAKERS INCLUDE:
• The Hon Susan Crennan AC KC
• Dr Michael Pryles AO PBM
• Nick Longley, HFW
• Diane Sivasubramaniam, PhD, Swinburne University
• Brigid Lloyd, MolinoCahill
• Diana Bowman, Bouygues Construction
• Chris Horsfall, CPB Contractors
• Jonathan McTigue, HWL Ebsworth
• Timana Hattam, HSF

A drinks reception generously hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills will follow the discussion.

Attendance is $50.

Proceeds will go towards the ACICA Education Fund, which supports the ACICA Pacific Islands Practitioner Scholarship Program (see here).
